FINAL LAP! One week left for you to enter the Game Changer Awards

There is now only one week left for the staff and students of Scotland’s colleges and higher education institutions to enter the Game Changer Awards which celebrates the many contributions of the further and higher education sectors to the success of the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The deadline for entries to the Game Changer Awards is 5.00 pm on Friday, 31 January. The entry form as well as information about eligibility can be found here.

Since launching the Game Changer Awards project back in October, Universities Scotland and Colleges Scotland have been delighted with the positive reception and support from across our member institutions.

As well as support from the Scottish Funding Council and Glasgow 2014’s Legacy Team, we’re delighted to have four sponsors on board to date, namely the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) sponsoring the Student Achievement Award;  Scottish Student Sport  (SSS) sponsoring the Sporting Contribution Award; UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) sponsoring the International Contribution Award; and the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) sponsoring the Learning and Skills Award.

The Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Michael Russell has welcomed the Game Changer Awards, saying:

“The XX Commonwealth Games this year will provide people from all walks of life an exciting opportunity to be involved in a world class sporting event in Scotland. It’s fantastic to see Scotland’s further and higher education institutions getting involved to ensure that Glasgow 2014 is a success.

“The Game Changer Awards are an opportunity to recognise the wide variety of contributions made by staff and students from our colleges and universities and I wish everyone luck with their applications.”

Earlier this month we announced details of the judging panels. We are privileged to have so many judges bringing their breadth of expertise to help identify the Game Changers in Scotland’s colleges and higher education institutions.

The Awards Ceremony will be held in the Old Fruitmarket, Candleriggs, Glasgow on the evening of Thursday 3, April, the venue in which Team Scotland celebrated winning the competition to the host the XX Commonwealth Games!

Our Awards Ceremony will also mark the 100-day countdown until the Opening Ceremony of the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. It doesn’t get much more exciting than that!

So, what are you waiting for? Go for the win and good luck.
